Logging in Malahvia old-growth forests, April 2006

Malahvia in northeastern Finland is an old-growth forest area, which has been classified by governmental research centre as ecologically valuable old-growth forest. Despite of this, Finnish government´s forestry enterprise Metsahallitus is logging in the area and StoraEnso Oulu mill is pulping the wood from habitats of red-listed species.
