Logging and logging plans in old-growth forests: Turjalaiset-Ahmatunturi, Finnish Lapland, February 2007

In February 2007 governmental forestry enterprise Metsähallitus clearcut old-growth forests in the western side of Turjalaiset-Ahmatunturi area. Wood from these loggings was sold at least to Finnforest Karihaara sawmill in Kemi. From there, the wood chips were used in Botnia pulp mill.

Metsähallitus has further logging plans in the area in Saijanvaara.
